# Marketplace Setup

> Subscribe to Aiven through AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud marketplace and link your subscription to your Aiven organization

You can subscribe to Aiven through your preferred cloud marketplace and have your Aiven charges billed directly to your cloud provider account. This simplifies procurement and consolidates your cloud spending.

## Benefits of marketplace subscriptions

  Marketplace subscriptions only set up billing. You won't be charged until you create and run Aiven services.

## Choose your marketplace

Select your cloud provider to get started:

        Click **View purchase options** to see the subscription details.

        Review the pricing information and terms.

        Click **Subscribe** to create the billing subscription.

        <Note>
          This only sets up billing between AWS and Aiven. You won't be charged until you create services.

      <Step title="Set up your account">
        Click **Set up your account** to continue to the Aiven Console.

        This redirects you to the AWS-specific Aiven signup page.

      <Step title="Register or log in">
        On the AWS signup page at Aiven:

        * **New to Aiven?** Register with your email address
        * **Existing Aiven user?** Log in with your credentials

      <Step title="Link your subscription">
        Choose or create an Aiven organization to link with your AWS subscription.

          If you already have Aiven services in an organization, select that organization to migrate billing to AWS.
        </Tip>

    ### Troubleshooting

    If you encounter issues linking your subscription:

    1. In the AWS Console, navigate to **AWS Marketplace Subscriptions**
    2. Find the Aiven subscription
    3. Click **Set up your account** to retry the linking process

        Click **Get it now** to begin the subscription process.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Choose billing model">
        Select **Recurring billing** as your billing option.

        <Note>
          Recurring billing allows you to pay only for what you use. No upfront commitments required.
        </Note>

      <Step title="Complete subscription details">
        Fill in the required information:

        * Subscription name
        * Resource group
        * Billing details

        Review Microsoft's [purchase guidance](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/purchase-software-appsource) if needed.

          You won't be charged at this stage. This only sets up billing between Azure and Aiven.
        </Note>

        After completing the Azure subscription, click **Configure account now**.

        This takes you to the Azure-specific Aiven signup page.

      <Step title="Log in to Aiven">
        On the [Azure signup page at Aiven](https://console.azure.aiven.io/login):

        * Use the same email address as your Azure console
        * Create a password if you're a new Aiven user
        * Log in if you already have an Aiven account

        Select or create an Aiven organization to link with your Azure subscription.
      </Step>

    ### Troubleshooting

    If you encounter issues linking your subscription:

    1. In the Azure Portal, go to your subscriptions
    2. Find the Aiven subscription
    3. Click **Open SaaS Account on publisher's site**
    4. Complete the linking process

        Choose your Google Cloud billing account from the dropdown.

        Click **Subscribe** to confirm.

          You won't be charged at this stage. This only sets up billing between Google Cloud and Aiven.

        After subscribing, click **Go to product page**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Manage on provider">
        Click **Manage on provider** to complete the setup in Aiven Console.

        This redirects you to the GCP-specific Aiven signup page.

        On the GCP signup page:

        * **New to Aiven?** Register with your email address
        * **Existing Aiven user?** Log in with your credentials

        Choose or create an Aiven organization to link with your Google Cloud subscription.

    ### Understanding GCP billing

    Services created through your Google Cloud subscription are billed per hour:

    * Metering data is sent from Aiven to Google Cloud
    * View usage in the **Billing** section of Google Cloud Console
    * The subscription appears as **Use of Aiven**
    * Usage labels help identify your services:
      * `container_name`: Your Aiven project name
      * `resource_name`: Your Aiven service name

      1. Navigate to **Billing** → **Reports**
      2. Filter by **Service**: Use of Aiven
      3. Add labels to see per-project or per-service costs:
         * Group by `container_name` to see costs by Aiven project
         * Group by `resource_name` to see costs by individual service

## After subscription setup

Once you've linked your marketplace subscription:

    Log into the Aiven Console using your marketplace-specific URL and verify that your billing is set up correctly.

    Check the **Billing** section to confirm your marketplace subscription is active.

    All service charges will be billed through your cloud marketplace.

## Managing existing services

If you already have Aiven services with a different payment method:

  You can change the billing for existing services to use your marketplace subscription:

  1. Link your marketplace subscription to the organization containing your services
  2. In the Aiven Console, go to **Billing** → **Billing groups**
  3. Select the billing group containing your services
  4. Update the payment method to your marketplace subscription

  Your services will continue running without interruption, and future charges will be billed through the marketplace.

## Frequently asked questions

<Accordion title="When will I be charged?">
  You're charged only after creating and running Aiven services. The marketplace subscription itself has no cost.

  Billing is hourly based on the services you're running and their configuration (plan size, cloud region, etc.).

<Accordion title="Can I use multiple marketplace subscriptions?">
  Yes, you can have multiple marketplace subscriptions across different organizations. However, each organization can only be linked to one marketplace subscription.

  If you need to use services from multiple cloud providers, create separate organizations for each marketplace.

<Accordion title="Can I switch between marketplaces?">
  You can change your billing method, but this requires updating your billing group configuration. Contact [support@aiven.io](mailto:support@aiven.io) for assistance with complex billing migrations.

  Pricing is consistent across all channels. However, marketplace subscriptions may allow you to use existing cloud credits or commitments, which can reduce your effective cost.

  If your marketplace subscription ends or is cancelled, you'll need to add an alternative payment method to keep your services running. Aiven will notify you before any service interruption.
